Mother Teresa Cathedral opens in Pristina

PRISTINA, Kosovo -- A Catholic cathedral named after Mother Teresa was inaugurated on Saturday (September 4th) in Pristina. President Fatmir Seidiu described the values preached by Mother Teresa worldwide, calling her a symbol of tolerance and humanism. He predicted that the cathedral will be an important religious, national and cultural site. Construction began in August 2005 at the initiative of then President Ibrahim Rugova. Opening the cathedral is one of the events marking Mother Teresa's 100th birthday. She was born to an ethnic Albanian family in Skopje on August 26th 1910.
