Somali pirates release Turkish ship

ANKARA, Turkey -- Somali pirates released a Turkish cargo ship early Thursday (July 29th) after holding it for four months. The Frigia is owned by the Istanbul-based shipping company Kayra, and its crew of 19 Turkish and two Ukrainians are said to be okay despite their ordeal. The vessel, sailing under the Maltese flag, and was seized on March 23rd in the Indian Ocean, en route to Thailand.

Separately, a Turkish tour boat caught fire and sank in the Mediterranean late Wednesday, leaving one Spanish tourist missing. Authorities say 18 tourists and five crew members jumped off the boat to avoid the flames. The ship was travelling from the resort of Marmaris to Fethiye. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
