Kosovo Central Bank governor arrested

23/07/2010

PRISTINA, Kosovo -- EULEX says that Kosovo Central Bank Governor Hashim Rexhepi was arrested on Friday (July 23rd) in Pristina as part of a corruption investigation. Raids were conducted in the Central Bank offices, a private company and private properties of four suspects, including Rexhepi. EULEX says the searches began after information surfaced indicating abuse of power, bribery, tax evasion and money laundering. The raids were authorised by a EULEX judge in Pristina District Court.
