14/03/2010

SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) -- Prosecutors charged a former Special Forces commander on Saturday (March 13th) over his alleged role in the July 1995 Srebrenica massacre. Nedjo Ikonic, 46, was accused in connection with the detention and killing of Muslim prisoners of war who were caught as they tried to escape Srebrenica. According to the indictment, Ikonic ordered and oversaw the executions of more than 1,000 Muslims. He has been in custody in Sarajevo since January, after his extradition from the United States.
