NICOSIA, Cyprus -- The justice ministry announced on Tuesday (March 9th) that the motive behind the theft of late President Tassos Papadopoulos's body was ransom, which the family refused to pay. Police recovered the body Monday, three months after it was stolen from his grave in Nicosia. A DNA analysis has confirmed that the remains are his. Police discovered the body several kilometres from the cemetery where the late president was buried. An anonymous caller provided the tip. (ANA-MPA, ERT, CNA - 09/03/10; AP, BBC - 08/03/10)
