Serbia decides to submit EU application by year-end

BELGRADE, Serbia -- The European Integration Council decided on Saturday (December 19th) that Serbia will submit its EU application by the end of the year. The session was chaired by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and was also attended by President Boris Tadic. Speaking to journalists after the session, Cvetkovic said that Belgrade would wait for Sweden, the holder of the EU's rotating presidency, on when a formal request could be filed officially.
