Albanian gang leader extradited from Turkey

TIRANA, Albania -- Police announced on Wednesday (November 25th) that notorious Albanian criminal Alfred Shkurti has been extradited from Turkey, where he had been held behind bars since 2006. Shkurti, 44, also known as Aldo Bare, lost a long appeals case and was transferred under tight security from Tirana airport to a prison in the capital. Bare is charged with several crimes committed as the head of the so-called Lushnje Gang. The crimes include 15 murders, kidnappings, drug trafficking and bombing the homes of police officials, as well as the Lushnje city stadium. (Top Channel, Balkan Web, Shekuli, AP - 24/11/09)
