Romanian parliament to vote on Croitoru's cabinet

04/11/2009

BUCHAREST, Romania -- Prime Minister-designate Lucian Croitoru faces a vote of confidence regarding his cabinet Wednesday (November 4th), after a trying week in which most of his nominees were rejected by parliamentary committees. With the exception of the candidates for the foreign affairs and regional development portfolios, Bodgan Aurescu and Vasile Blaga, all proposed ministers were rejected by the respective committees. Croitoru's cabinet needs 236 votes to take office. The Liberal Democratic Party, the only party supporting Croitoru, has only 172 votes. All opposition parties back Klaus Johannis for prime minister.
