Macedonians overwhelmingly support EU, NATO integration

14/10/2009

SKOPJE, Macedonia -- More than 90% of Macedonians support their country's Euro-Atlantic and European integration efforts, according to a new survey by the International Republican Institute (IRI). John Cavanaugh, head of the IRI branch in Skopje, said on Tuesday (October 13th) that 94% of respondents have voiced support for Macedonia's NATO membership, while 96% have backed the country's EU bid. Cavanaugh added that the majority of Macedonians believe the country is stable and that multiethnic relations have not been affected by the controversial new Macedonian encyclopaedia.
