27/09/2009

ANKARA, Turkey -- Emin Arslan, deputy head of the General Security Directorate, who headed the anti-drug trafficking department for almost seven years, was arrested in Istanbul on charges of corruption and links to drug traffickers, local media reported on Friday (September 25th). Arslan is suspected of patronising a drug baron who was arrested in a raid last month. Arlsan was suspended from his duties but has denied all charges. (Anadolu news agency, Habertuk, AP - 25/09/09)
