Sofia protest draws thousands

SOFIA, Bulgaria -- Several thousand people rallied in downtown Sofia on Friday (June 26th) to protest against the government's anti-crisis measures, media reported. They demanded better job protection, a minimum monthly salary of about 400 leva (about 200 euros), higher unemployment compensation and reforms in education and health care. The rally was organised by the Bulgarian Trade Union Confederation Podkrepa. (Sofia news agency, bTV, Darik, Reuters, AP - 26/06/09)
