PODGORICA, Montenegro -- Police confirmed the arrest of Vladimir Lekic, a member of the international Pink Panther crime organization on Monday (June 15th). He was detained in his home in Cetinje on an Interpol arrest warrant. Lekic is suspected of robbing a jewellery store in Frankfurt in December 2003, along with two other Montenegrins. The estimated value of the stolen merchandise is approximately 1m euros. Lekic's accomplices are in jail in France. Members of Pink Panther are mainly from the Balkans, and are believed to be responsible for a wave of jewellery heists over the past decade in Europe, Asia and the Persian Gulf.
