Cypriot leaders discuss territory issue

16/06/2009

NICOSIA, Cyprus -- Cypriot President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat discussed the territory issue and the opening of a new crossing point in Limnitis on Monday (June 15th). Another meeting is scheduled for June 26th.

Meanwhile, EU Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry Gunter Verheugen said Monday that the European Commission (EC) fully supports the ongoing reunification process in Cyprus. "The solution [of the Cyprus problem] is clearly in the interest of the people living on this island, both Greeks and Turks," said Verheugen.
