NEW YORK, United States -- Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Montenegro received invitations on Thursday (September 25th) to join the Adriatic Charter of NATO aspirants, a co-operation mechanism initiated by the United States in 2003. The Adriatic Charter, which consists of Albania, Croatia and Macedonia, extended the invitations during a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. The group aims to co-ordinate NATO membership preparations. BiH and Montenegro joined NATO's Partnership for Peace programme in late 2006.
