TIRANA, Albania -- The European Commission (EC) office in Tirana announced a grant of 245m euros to support Albania's EU accession bid over the course of three years. According to a statement Tuesday (September 23rd), the funds will be earmarked for agriculture, transportation and energy, environmental and regional development, as well as police and judicial reform.
In other news Tuesday, EC Ambassador to Tirana Helmuth Lohan urged political leaders to complete necessary voting-related reforms ahead of next year's general elections. They are expected by the end of June. (Koha Jone - 24/09/08; News 24, Telegrafi, IHT, Top Channel - 23/09/08)
