Direct Cyprus reunification talks to continue in October

NICOSIA, Cyprus -- Direct reunification talks between Cypriot President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat will continue on October 8th, UN spokeswoman Marie Okabe announced after a meeting between the two leaders in Nicosia on Thursday (September 18th). Discussions focused on governance and power sharing, Okabe said. The meeting, which media could not attend, was the third since the launch of direct talks between the two communities in early September.
