TIRANA, Albania -- The Council of Europe (CoE) has dispatched representatives to inspect democratic processes in Albania. On Wednesday (September 17th), Jaakko Laakso and David Wilshire from the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) encouraged senior officials to complete key reforms to achieve the country's European integration aspirations.
In other news Wednesday, Prime Minister Sali Berisha urged the justice and finance ministries to draft a law that would penalise employers who contribute to the so-called "black market". "The problem should not be considered a civil, but rather a penal, matter," Berisha told a cabinet meeting. (Top Channel, Shqip, BalkanWeb, Alsat, Lajm - 18/09/08)
