BUCHAREST, Romania -- Six NATO member states and Ukraine are participating in joint naval exercises in the Black Sea that started on Tuesday (September 16th). The exercises, organised by the United States and Romania, will run for eight days. A total of 1,300 service members from the United States, Ukraine, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Latvia and Sweden are participating, Romanian Lt. Col. Florin Jipa said. The manoeuvres involve three ships, as well as land forces including the Romanian border police and intelligence services. (Ziare, Adevarul - 16/09/08)
