Turkey vows support for BiH's sovereignty

ANKARA, Turkey -- President Abdullah Gul vowed his country's support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, media reported on Thursday (September 4th). On Wednesday, Gul met with BiH Presidency Chairman Haris Silajdzic, who is in Turkey on an official visit. At a joint press conference afterwards, Gul stressed that Turkey is an influential member of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council, the international body charged with implementing the Dayton Peace Accords for BiH. He welcomed as "very significant developments" the partnership agreement signed between BiH and the EU in June and the intensified dialogue with NATO following the April summit in Bucharest.
