Explosion kills one Romanian soldier in Afghanistan, injures four others

KABUL, Afghanistan -- An explosion killed one and injured four other Romanian soldiers in Afghanistan on Sunday (August 31st), the Romanian defence ministry announced. The soldiers were patrolling the Qalat-Kabul road, when their armoured personnel carrier ran over an improvised explosive device, about 20km out of Qalat. A total of eight Romanian soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since Romania began deploying troops there in July 2002. (Mediafax, Agerpres, Realitatea TV, Ziare - 31/08/08)
