Romania's Tariceanu wants another term after November 30th elections

BUCHAREST, Romania -- Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu said on Friday (August 29th) that he wants another term in office after the November 30th elections. "With pride and enthusiasm, I am announcing that I want to be the candidate of the National Liberal Party (PNL) for the prime minister's post," Tariceanu said at a gathering of party leaders meeting at a Black Sea coast resort.

Mircea Geoana, leader of the opposition Social Democratic Party, announced his candidacy for the prime minister's post as well on Friday. The deputy leader of the Democratic Liberal Party, Theodor Stolojan has also expressed an interest in the job. (Financiarul, Hotnews, AFP, MIA - 29/08/08)
