Turkish police identify alleged Mersin attack organiser

ANKARA, Turkey -- Police confirmed on Sunday (August 24th) the identity of the man who allegedly carried out a bombing in Mersin on August 19th that injured 13 police officers. The suspect, identified as Muslum Gunesoglu, 28, purportedly has links to a terrorist group, the Kurdistan Freedom Falcons.

Meanwhile, CNN Turk reported that a group of terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party members attacked a police station with bazookas late Saturday in the southeast province of Siirt. The authorities did not report any casualties. (Turkish Daily News - 25/08/08; CNN Turk, Hurriyet - 24/08/08)
