Bulgarian police seize four tonnes of cannabis

SOFIA, Bulgaria -- More than four tonnes of marijuana were seized in a series of operations last week, police in the south-west town of Blagoevgrad announced on Saturday (August 23rd). More than two dozen police units raided around 20 land plots, as well as private yards in the region of Sandanski and Petrich, notorious for its concentration of illegal cannabis fields. Police in Blagoevgrad recently confiscated 1.6 tonnes of cannabis from a private property in the same region. (AFP, RTS, Darik, Standart - 23/08/08)
