Montenegro issues international arrest warrant for war crimes suspect Strugar

PODGORICA, Montenegro -- Police have issued an international arrest warrant for General Predrag Strugar, who allegedly committed war crimes against civilians, police spokesperson Tamara Popovic announced on Wednesday (August 13th). At the beginning of the month, police issued a domestic arrest warrant for Strugar, who lives in Serbia. He and seven other people arrested last week are wanted for the murders of 23 ethnic Albanian civilians in the village of Kaluderski Laz, Montenegro, during the NATO air strikes of 1999. His father is former Yugoslav National Army General Pavle Strugar, who The Hague war crimes tribunal sent to prison for his role in the 1991 bombardment of Dubrovnik. (RTS, RTCG - 13/08/08)
