Illegal immigrants arrested in Albania, Macedonia

TIRANA, Albania -- Police on Monday (August 4th) arrested five illegal immigrants hidden in a truck trailer at the port of Durres. They are detaining an Albanian driver. Authorities are questioning the immigrants, who allegedly intended to cross the Adriatic and enter Italy in the furniture truck.

In other news, Macedonian authorities arrested five illegal Afghan immigrants inside a Turkish truck bound for Italy via Albania. The arrests occurred at a checkpoint on the Macedonian-Albanian border. (News 24, BalkanWeb - 04/08/08)
