24/01/2008

PODGORICA, Montenegro -- The People's Party called on the Serbian People's Party and the Socialist People's Party to consider supporting a common presidential candidate on Wednesday (January 23rd), before starting to collect signatures in support of their separate candidates. The three parties were all members of the bloc that supported the former loose union with Serbia. The election is scheduled for April 6th.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Bosniak Party in Montenegro, Rafet Husanovic, announced on Wednesday he is prepared to run for president if he receives party backing. (RTCG, Antena M - 24/01/08)
