SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) -- NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer told BiH Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj on Thursday (January 10th) that the country's Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) had been approved. The IPAP is considered the first step towards receiving NATO membership candidate status. In his letter, de Hoop Scheffer stressed that NATO considers BiH an important partner and will continue to support reforms there.

Separately Thursday, BiH sealed a memorandum of understanding with EUFOR that allows EU personnel to use military facilities to conduct training, exercises and various operations. (Dnevni Avaz - 11/01/08; OHR website, RTRS, Fena, NTV Hayat - 10/01/08)
