Romanian opposition joins forces in new political formation

BUCHAREST, Romania -- The country's two main opposition parties announced on Saturday (December 15th) they are uniting into a new political formation. The Democratic Party (PD) and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLD) will unite to form the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), PD leader Emil Boc announced on Saturday after an extraordinary congress of the PLD. The merger of the two political groups was approved by a 933-vote majority. (Rompres, Mediafax, DPA, MIA, A1 - 15/12/07)
