Romania hosts major military exercise

BUCHAREST, Romania -- A joint military exercise involving troops from Romania, Bulgaria and the United States began on Saturday (August 18th) at the Mihail Kogalniceanu air base near Constanta. This is the biggest drill of its kind ever organised by Romania in co-operation with US forces. It involves about 1,000 troops from the three countries and runs until October 22nd. US personnel from bases in Heidelberg and Baumholder, Germany and Vicenza, Italy will train with Bulgarian and Romanian troops both at the Romanian base and at several locations in Bulgaria.
