Romanian, Ukrainian presidents open new border crossing at Tisza River

BUCHAREST, Romania -- President Traian Basescu and his Ukrainian counterpart, Viktor Yushchenko, inaugurated a new joint border crossing over the Tisza River on Monday (January 15th), at Sighetu Marmatiei-Solotvino. They also discussed bilateral ties, expressing interest in boosting co-operation in the energy sector. Basescu and Yushchenko agreed on the mutual opening of Romanian schools in Ukraine and Ukrainian ones in Romania.

On Tuesday, Basescu visited Moldova for talks with counterpart Vladimir Voronin. (Ziua, Nine o'clock - 16/01/07; Rompres, Mediafax, RFE - 15/01/07)
