Poll finds most voters in Serbia back new draft constitution

23/10/2006

BELGRADE, Serbia -- The majority of Serbian voters plan to back the new draft constitution in next weekend's referendum, according to a poll by the Centre for Free Elections and Democracy. The results, released on Friday (October 20th), suggest that over 95% of voters who plan to participate in the referendum are in favour of the new constitution. In addition, 55 % of them view that support as their duty and obligation to maintain constitutional and public order. Only 10% said they planned to vote to confirm that Kosovo remains part of Serbia.
