US military official visits Serbia for talks on bilateral strategic partnership

BELGRADE, Serbia -- The Commander of the Ohio Army National Guard, Major General Gregory Wayt, arrived on Tuesday (26 September) for a four-day visit to Serbia, focused on the new strategic partnership between Belgrade and the state of Ohio. He met first with General Zdravko Ponos to discuss concrete activities for military collaboration, as envisioned in a recently sealed bilateral agreement.

In other news, Serbian parliamentary parties continued to discuss the country's new constitution Tuesday. No formal statements were made, but according to local media reports, the referendum on a new constitution may be held in early November. (Danas - 27/09/06; Beta, Tanjug, B92 - 26/09/06)
