29/08/2006

SKOPJE, Macedonia -- The new government was formally installed on Monday (28 August), following parliamentary approval late Saturday. Nikola Gruevski, 35, leader of the VMRO-DPMNE party, succeeds Vlado Buckovski as prime minister. According to an asset statement published on the party's website, Gruevski has savings totalling 44,000 euros and no real estate or car registered to his name. All VMRO-DPMNE members in the cabinet submitted asset statements to demonstrate their stance against corruption. (UPI, Makfax - 28/08/06)
