The Republic of Montenegro held its second parliamentary elections on March 29th 2009. Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic and his Democratic Party of Socialists claimed victory.
Djukanovic's Coalition for European Montenegro (DPS-SDP) won 47 seats, followed by Srdjan Milic's SDP Socialist People's Party of Montenegro (SNP) with 16 seats. The New Serb democracy of Andrija Mandic won eight seats, and movement for Changes five seats.
Parties representing ethnic Albanians and other minorities also won no seats in this election.
International observers assessed the vote as having been conducted largely in line with Montenegro's commitments to OSCE, as well as with Council of Europe standards for democratic elections.
The total voter turnout was 66.19%.
