Bosnia and Herzegovina held its presidential elections on 5 October 2002. The tri-presidency was won by the Muslim Party of Democratic Action's Sulejman Tihic with 37.2 per cent of the vote; the Croatian Democratic Union's Dragan Covic with 61.5 per cent of the vote; and the Serbian Democratic Party's Mirko Sarovic with 35.5 per cent of the vote. Voter turnout was 55.5 per cent.
The tri-presidency was sworn in on 28 October 2002. This was the first time after the signing of Dayton Peace Accord that the representatives would be elected for four year mandate as oppose to two year mandate in previous elections.
