Albanian president calls for debate, not violence

06/04/2011

TIRANA, Albania -- President Bamir Topi has reiterated his call for all politicians to hold productive debates and refrain from violence and rhetoric. Topi was speaking during a ceremony Tuesday (April 5th) honouring prominent figures who helped bring down the communist regime 20 years ago. He used the opportunity to address to candidates in the upcoming May 8th local elections. "Political parties should leave rhetoric out and discuss practical development projects," Topi said.
