Macedonia debuts new financial measures

07/03/2010

SKOPJE, Macedonia -- On Saturday (March 6th), the government unveiled a set of anti-crisis measures to improve the business climate in the country. The plan consists of 24 measures in the areas of tax policy, crediting, agriculture, property issues, construction and social policy. Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski told reporters that the VAT law will be amended to secure a ten-day extension to the current deadline for payment of the tax. Also, there will be a new line of credit to support small- and medium-sized enterprises. This is the fourth package of measures revealed by the government to alleviate the impact of the global economic downturn. (MIA, A1, Makfax, AFP - 06/03/10)
