ANKARA, Turkey -- NATO's defence ministers gathered on Thursday (February 4th) for an informal two-day meeting in Istanbul. They are set to discuss the Alliance-led operation in Afghanistan and the mission in Kosovo among other issues. US Defence Secretary Robert Gates, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and UN Special Envoy in Kabul Kai Eide are among the participants. The discussions on Afghanistan focus on training the Afghan army and police forces. (Zaman, Anadolu news agency, World Bulletin, DPA - 04/02/10)
