ADANA, Turkey -- Six suspected members of al-Qaeda were arrested in the southern city of Adana on Wednesday (February 3rd) for alleged involvement in an incident at the US consulate there. Gunmen fired at the building late Monday. No injuries were reported. Authorities say documents belonging to the terrorist organisation were found in the suspects' apartments.
Also Wednesday, police arrested 16 former members of the recently outlawed pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party. Investigators say the suspects belong to an urban branch of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party. (Hurriyet - 04/02/10; AFP, Anadolu news agency, MIA, UPI - 03/02/10)
