Land mine kills soldier in southeast Turkey

ANKARA, Turkey -- A land mine killed one soldier and injured four others Monday (June 9th) near the town of Semdinli in the southern province of Hakkari. The Anadolu news agency says the blast occurred in an area allegedly mined by members of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). In a separate incident, three PKK members died in clashes with security forces in the Ovacik district of the Tunceli province. According to the media, fighting in the area continues.
