Croatia's Sava River reached its highest level in 50 years, submerging villages in the suburb of Zagreb.

Floods are washing away homes and livelihoods in the villages near Zagreb. Velika Gorica and Sisak, southeast of Zagreb, have been inundated since the weekend. The government has declared a state of emergency in a number of Croatian villages and has sent the army to help with evacuations.
